LaVerne Robert Bladorn, 90, of Janesville died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at his home. He was born at the Bladorn family home in Rock Township, Rock County on May 20, 1925, the son of Frank and Anna (Lenz) Bladorn. LaVerne was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served during World War II. He married Janet E. Cullen on August 1, 1953. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2000. As a young person, LaVerne was employed by Kroeger’s Grocery Store in Janesville. He later worked at the Rock River Woolen Mills and then for 30 years for General Motors. He loved gardening, working in his yard, riding his high wheeler bicycle, bowling and helping other people. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing catcher on the baseball team he played with. LaVerne was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where he had served as a Deacon.
Surviving are his son, John (Sarah) Bladorn of Janesville, three grandchildren, Ryan and Kendal Bladorn and Hannah Northup, his sister, Erma A. Schultz of Janesville, brother-in-law, James Brennan, sisters-in-law, Arlene Bladorn, Dorothy Bladorn and Virginia Bladorn along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, LaVerne was preceded in death by nine brothers, Leroy, George, Harold, William, Donald, Raymond, Edward, Francis and Fred Bladorn and four sisters, Esther Lanphere, Charlotte Henthorne, MaryAnn Flint and Lois Brennan.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, 17 N. Jackson St., Janesville. Rev. Dr. Bruce A. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park with military graveside rites by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621. Visitation will be at the Church on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church. The Bladorn family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
